I have created a new blog to support my new venture as a "designer"...

Dreaming of the Beach Already

A few weeks back, I mentioned we were looking at moving to a small farm...those plans have been tabled until the new year. I think about the farm all the time, continue to drive by and check the listing online...MBM, has moved on. And by moved on, I mean hasn't given a second thought and is more focused on the beach house. If we were to move to the farm, our beach house plans (knock down and rebuild) would be years and years and years away...you know, because this all cost money and we have three kids to educate. Those are the things I forget about...thanks goodness for MBM to reel me back in!
We have been talking more about the beach house and yesterday in the mail we received a real estate magazine for our beach town and surrounding towns...this is getting really long...sorry ...
Anyway, we came across an architect and fell in love with his work. And while looking at his online portfolio found houses that we have photographed to use as inspriation when it is time for the wreaking ball!

Take a look...I love EVERY detail in his work!

I should mention, our house and lot are tiny...so don't get the wrong idea...he would need to design something in minature!

My client, a stay at home mom of two young boys need helpwarming up her dining room. She LOVES blue (thank goodness since she is in a house full of boys) her goal was pretty! I think that is exactly what we got!

We warmed up the paint color, changed out the area rug, repositioned the dining chairs, and added lovely flat panel drapery on the windows. The windows in this room are small, so we hung the drapery hardware about 8" past the molding on both sides to give the illusion of larger windows and to gain as much light as possible.

Drapery fabric...lovely Ralph Lauren soft blue, yellow, cream floral.

With the left over fabric, I recovered the shades for the buffet lamps.

This is the only eating area in the house...wouldn't you love to start your day with coffee and toast in this pretty room?

MBM and I are leaving bright and early tomorrow morning, like 5:00 AM, for Wilmington, North Carolina.

He will be racing in the Beach to Battleship Triathlon and I will be taking in the sites and shops! I have always wanted to go to Wilmington, ever since I found out this and this were filmed there. CapeSide and Tree Hill are second to my favorite TV town Stars Hollow...should be fun!!

Any suggestions were to eat or places I must see...please, I am all ears!

I installed these yesterday. The pictures do not do these justice...they turned out BEAUTIFUL. If I do say so myself....TOOT TOOT...oh, excuse me that was me just tooting my own horn!

At my suggestion the homeowner is going to paint the doors black. I think it will make a huge difference.
This is the first time I have made romans like this...lined, with dowel pockets in the lining, wieghted at the bottom and three lined up in a row. I was thrilled with the finished product. Everything hung straight and level and the pattern in the fabric matched all the way across!
A lot of fun to make...except hand sewing on all the rings...OUCH! I think the girls bathroom needs some new roman shades!

Back Burner

A few weeks ago, I mentioned greener pastures for us...well we have put the whole thing on the back burner. After meeting with the realtor we have a clearer picture of the housing market and mortgage crisis. ...the housing market is in the potty, we would take a hit on our house, if we could sell it at all (only 3 houses in our price range, in our school district have sold in the last six months...UGH!!!!), we are heading into the holidays which is a TERRIBLE time to try to sell, not to mention try to keep the house tidy for showings.
So, we are going to revisit the move after the new year...from what we have learned, we are pretty confident the farm house isn't going to sell before then...all goes back to the mortage crisis. And if it should sell...then it wasn't meant to be!
My yard sale was rained out...so my dining room is still a mess. I am planning on dragging everything into the garage until the rescheduled date of the 31st, yes, Halloween as if yard sales are creepy enough!
Our house has no signs of fall in it that is my goal today! As usual...late to the party!

This is the current state of my dining room. I am preparing for a yard sale on Saturday. This doesn't even scratch the surface of what will be out there for sale.

I have been going through every closet, drawer, and cabinet, if I don't LOVE it or if it is not imperative to our survival...it goes.

Furniture, clothes, shoes, window treatments, pictures, kitchen stuff, knick knacks, books, electronics...

and I have priced things to move because once it is out of the house it is NOT coming back in! I am considering selling my wedding gown...what do you think?

Cleveland

This past weekend we headed to Cleveland to visit MBM's college roommate and his wife. On Saturday, we all went to Cedar Point, it was fun and crowded...Lulu wasn't tall enough to ride most of the rides...total bummer for her!

Sunday, I ran my very first half marathon (13.1 miles) that was really fun! That's me heading toward the finish.

Still Distracted

No news is good news? I am not so sure about that. We are still in a holding pattern...waiting, waiting, waiting. I always pride myself on being patient, clearly, I am not as patient as I thought.

Here is the deal...MBM and I have always wanted a small farm with a "party barn" and over the years we have looked at a bunch. They are either, too expensive, too much work needs to be done, etc... Well, we found one...that we love, the barn has been completely renovated (it is still a barn), the house needs some reno to make it work for a family of five (it currently has one bathroom), the acrege is doable, lots of wooded area, a pond, a stream, an orchard, there is a two bedroom carriage house, it has been on the market for two years, the price not outrageous and we are pretty sure they would entertain a lower offer.

The hold up? Our current house...selling it for what it is worth...in this market...we just don't know. We had a realtor come yesterday, she said our house shows like a model home, that was nice, but, how much and how long will it take to sell...she is getting back to us tomorrow. Another realtor is coming this afternoon, I am a bit sceptical of her, she gets the job done, but, if you are not on board with her marketing strategy (aka..shelling out nearly 1000 beans for inspections and appraisals, before putting on the market) then she is not interested in working with you. While I can, appreciate her strategy...we still need lots of questions answered. Like...how much? are there buyers out there? how long would she estimate it being on the market? (her average is something like 85 days)... we realize we are heading straight into a slow time, how will that affect us, etc.....

The not knowing if it is something we can do...IS KILLING ME!!!!!

So I am distracted...and do you know how hard it is to keep this house clean with a family of five....ANSWERS, I just want some answers. Even if it is not what I want to hear...so I can move on!

In the mean time: I delivered and installed these last week...love the print, she was willing to step just outside the box with me...

Distracted

Well here is one of the projects finished ....

BEFORE: pretty beat up, many layers of stain and poly, not to mention 40 years of wax build up from furniture polish. I should mention this table came out of an old convent, my MIL scored this and lots of other loot, including the church pew in my kitchen, when the convent was closing shop. And trust me, as a product of Catholic school, nuns love furniture polish.

AFTER: a good scrubbing, lots of sanding, a can of antique white spray paint, some walnut stain, glaze, poly, and a cute little glass knob.

The table doesn't have a home yet...for now it is in the powder room.

We have been very distracted...let's just say there could be greener pastures in our future...pastures being the key word here! We will know more on Friday afternoon...keep good thoughts for us!

...all have these things involved.

There has been panting, sanding, drilling, leveling, organizing, staining, sewing, and three trips to the home improvement store. My goal is to have it all complete by Sunday...fingers crossed!

Running:
I am getting dangerously close to the half marathon I registered for back in July...18 days! I feel pretty good about it...I think? Sunday, I ran 10 miles in a local state park, the path along the creek was lovely, cool and soft on the hoofs...I felt great the whole run. I am on the hunt for new running shorts/pants...after a long run I have chub rub issues...and I am not sure the world is ready for me in compression shorts! Looking for suggestions!

Work:

I am very busy...lots of stuff out there. Just delivered a big bedroom job over the weekend and picked up her family room while I was there. Below is a picture of the dining room valances I did for her back in the spring.

Currently working on a window seat cushion and pillows, linen draperies, roman shades, etc...

Girls:

They are back into the swing of things. Lulu LOVES first grade and made the transition from half day to full day without issue. And I am adjusting too!

Emma has a man teacher this year....so good for her!

Fifth Grade is an adjustment for Caroline... several different teachers and lots of homework. But, she can handle it, most days anyway!

All three are playing field hockey and all three are on different teams...2 practices a week and games on Saturday...never at the same location...so that's a blast!

MBM:

He is good...traveling a bit and training for a this and of course he is my trainer!

Roosevelt:

Totally filthy and getting groomed tomorrow...thank heaven!

This picture cracks me up! This was taken over the Labor Day Weekend at a Splash 'n Dash race at the shore. Lulu is taking off her swim cap...she said she smiled the whole time...I believer her! Thought this would be a good way to start your weekend!

BEFORE: This little wicker set (sofa and love seat) basically fell into our hands from my MIL's cousin, she wanted something new for her sun porch. My MIL snatched it up for us and our empty beach house living room! Now, I am not a hug fan of wicker and a matching set is overkill but the price was right...a hug and kiss! So you can see in the before picture it looks as if it was taken right form the set of the Golden Girls with the pickled finish and floral cushions. AFTER: Eight cans of brown spray paint, then a walnut stain on top, 12 yards of outdoor fabric later! The Paint Treatment: really eight cans of spray paint for both pieces, my trigger finger and right arm hurt for a few days following. Then I brushed on, haphazardly, some Walnut stain I had left over. The stain added shine, texture, depth, and protection. I was so thrilled with the way it turned out, I did the same treatment to a wicker buffet(yes, more pickled wicker) The Fabric: Was like a dream come true! I have coveted this outdoor fabric forever...it is off white quilted diamonds, my favorite (click pic to enlarge)...but, at $98.00 per yard retail, NEVER GONNA HAPPEN! Until, I walked in to the outlet and there it was, two bolt ends totaling 12 yards for just under eight beans a yard.....SOLD!!!!!! I sewed up some quick covers for the cushions added lots and lots of pillows...it went from Boca Raton 1988 to a cross between this and that! The total cost... Sofa/Love seat...HUG AND KISS Spray paint.....$40 Stain...........FOUND IN THE GARAGE Fabric..........$100 Pillows.........RECYCLED Print Fabric.....LEFT OVER FROM THE HANDBAG DAYS GRAND TOTAL.....$140

******Side Note****** The sofa was in our beach house living room for the summer and the love seat on the front porch. Before we left for the summer I strapped the sofa on the roof of my car and it now and forever will reside on our PA house screened in porch!

The Nation's Triathlon

Saturday we headed to D.C. with a bunch of friends for The Nation's Triathlon. The husbands raced and the wives had a lot of fun! MBM with The Nation's Tri founder, race director , and Mbm's good friend MBM with our friends and travel companions Me and MBM I didn't get any pictures of MBM racing, too many people. He placed 210 over all...there were over just under 4000 racers!

Hurricane Bill has really help with the Boogie Boarding this weekend. We had to drag the girls out of the water...wait a minute, I had to drag my husband out of the water. We are really trying to squeeze every second we can out of our time at the beach. Tomorrow we are headed home (Pennsylvania) to do the final preparations for school which starts on Monday. The girls have their classroom assignments, we need to food shop, get their first week of clothes in order, etc... I am so sad to see summer come to a close. Sigh........ I am back to running...looks like rest and proper footwear was all I needed!

Since, I stopped working outside the house I have been running a lot...you may remember the inspiration to run my first 5K Well, now I have a few 5K's under my belt and I recently decided to set a half marathon as a goal. I found one in Cleveland on October 11...hit two birds with one stone, visit friends and plenty of time for me to train. I have lined up some other races for late summer to help with training. I was feeling great, increasing my mileage, doing different workouts all under the watchful eye of my trainer/husband. MBM is super supportive and encouraging...his exact words, "You can do this no problem...as long as you don't get hurt." My thoughts, "hurt? whatever!" Guess what?..I am hurt. My left foot has really been bothering me the past 3 weeks or so. I did a 5K on Sunday and OUCH!!!! So, my trainer has me taking the week off. We don't know what is wrong but here are some contributing factors...I primarily run on the beach in the hard sand, I wear flip flops all day, every day except when I am bare foot walking around in the dry sand. I am hoping to be back to training by Monday...keep you fingers crossed for me!

Catching Up

Our summer is quickly coming to a close. Our schedules are jam packed for the next two weeks, with parties, fundraisers, baby shower, and quick trips home to prepare for the first day of school. When we are not scheduled to be somewhere we can be found at the beach or checking things of our "Things To Do This Summer List"! Last week, C and E went to lacrosse camp...of course they loved every second of it! The week was full of drills, scrimmages, games, and contest... Caroline...not a bad spot to play...right on the bay. Emma and partner in a balloon toss contest. Caroline running with the ball Emma defending...as usual my girls are so much smaller than everyone else! Caroline won "Camper of the Day"on Wednesday and Emma won "Camper of the Week" Lots of fun! Lulu and I did some fun things when they girls were at camp...rode or bikes up to the boardwalk, went to the book store, gave each other pedicures, etc...

...is hard! While there is so much to share, sitting inside blogging always losses to getting to the beach, bike riding with the girls, reading on the porch, cocktails with friends... To put it mildly...WE ARE HAVING A BLAST AND WILL NEVER SPEND ANOTHER SUMMER IN PENNSYLVANIA! This is our little beach house...it is old and little but, I LOVE IT! This picture was a gift from the previous owners...that is our little house second to the left. The house all the way to the left is the only other old house still remaining n the street...I have been dying to get inside. We are the fourth family to own the house...here is a brief history... ...1904 Land was sold by Ludman for $400 (The Island is also known as Ludman Island)to the Woerff family with he understanding a house would be built ...1905 Woerff family built the house ...1920's Woerff sold the house to the Adler family, two generations of Adlers owned the house ...1977 the Fitzgerald family bought the house ...2005 We knocked on the door one afternoon in May 2005 and bought the house over iced tea and a handshake This is our first summer living in the house...so far so good!

The past four weekends Matt has been competing in local Triathlons and a Biathlon. He has been placing in the top 3 of his age group and usually in the top 10% or better overall. Emma has joined the Triathlon craze, participating in the Island Kids Tri in Avalon. Matt and Emma before the swim...100 meters Transition...loved she asked for help with her shoes! Bike...3 miles Almost at he finish line...1 mile run Three Generations of Triathletes...They won a prize for Fastest Family 4th place So proud! Emma is signed up for 2 more races this summer...a Duathlon and a Splash and Dash!

At the Beach

I have finally made it to the shore...Our summer at the shore at has offically started! I will only be returning to Pennsylvania for orthodontist appointments and the occasional client meeting. My days are looking a little like this: ...wake up, not too early ...coffee and breakfast on the front porch ...go for a run on the beach ...do some house stuff, straightening, making lunch, a load of laundry or two ...pack the wagon for the beach ...apply sunblock ...beach ...beach ...beach ...dip my toes in the ocean ...beach ...beach ...beach When the lifeguards leave the beach it is time to go home. *****For the record, I drafted this post over a week ago...and surley thought by now everyone was busy with their summer...for fun I check Site meter to find I still have people checking in...so, thanks! I will do my best to bring you up to speed on our summer in our little beach house!

New Toy

Last weekend, I did some new counter stool seat cover for a client at the shore. Which, I needed by trusty old Power Shot. In typical Heather fashion, knowing I needed it this week at home to finish valances for another client, I left it at the shore. So, to make a long story longer...I went to but another PowerShot, but, my local hardware giant was out of them. After a minute of panic, thinking I was going to have to use an old school staple gun that requires some actual labor to operate, I saw this! An electric staple gun for a mere $10 more than what I was planning on purchasing and it is also a nail gun...the possibilities are endless! My maiden voyage, with my new toy was a cinch...gently pull the trigger and there you have it! NO LABOR required! It's the little things! Happy Weekend!

School is finally out...we headed to the shore immediately following dismissal to prepare for the wedding festivities. Here in the Philadelphia/New Jersey area it has been raining, raining, raining! My brother and fiance just wanted to get married at the shore...on the beach, cocktails on the deck of the Yacht Club, the rehearsal dinner on the dock of our favorite restaurant...but, all the rain made it look like it was not going to happen! Someway, somehow, or maybe it was just the luck of the Irish it stopped raining the sun came out just in time for cocktail on the dock the night of the rehearsal. The day of the wedding cloudy, windy, looked like it was going to storm any second, BUT, again about and hour before the ceremony the skies cleared and the sun was shining!!! Amazing!!!!! MBM and I before the ceremony...I look like I an standing in a hole...that dress needs heels! My brother...the groom. Linda and her dad They didn't have a wedding party and had their parents stand up for them. I read a poem and one of Linda's sisters read a blessing. My girls...they were flower girls along with Linda's three nieces. Love this picture...new cousins as the girls call Linda's nieces, they were watching the bride and groom dance....it was so cute! It was a great night...then it rained for the rest of the weekend!

We are headed to the shore tomorrow after school. WE are going to pack a lot into two days: ...girls are going to a lacrosse clinic on Saturday ...I am installing 2 jobs ...we will be working on wedding stuff for my brother's upcoming wedding, place cards and such ...we are having dinner with friends on Saturday night ...I am running a 5K on Sunday ...at some time I would like to get my feet sandy! Memorial Day Wrap Up

What a whirlwind! The race is the biggest part of our weekend...kinda like planning a wedding. A year of planning and it is over in one day and you are exhausted after! MBM did a fabulous job again this year. With well over 5oo racers...we could have been nearly 7oo, that is how many people we turned away, the race raised over $40,000which is split between the City of Sea Isle to rebuild the Veterans Park and the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund Early morning set up...we started at 4:30 AM. You would not believe the riffraff wandering around at that time in the morning, not to mention the guy we woke up sound asleep on the pavement dead center in town...under the American flag. Team Semper Fi arriving...truly amazing young men! You can read more about them here! Kids, ours included, couldn't resist playing in the sand! Getting ready to swim...we had over 500 racers this year! This year we had the finish line, lined with kids waving and giving out American flags...This is Lulu and her gal pal Molly... After the race wrapped up..it was lunch, beers, nap, and beach!!!! GREAT DAY!!!

Dad Vail Regatta

A few weeks ago was the 71st Dad Vail Regatta here in Philadelphia. An event, which I have hardly ever missed since elementary school. Here in Philadelphia rowing is huge...when you see images of Philadelphia, most likely a picture of Boat House Row is included My brother, has been what we lovingly refer to as, a "River Rat" since the age of 14. He rowed for his high school and college. In his sophomore year at Notre Dame he became hurt and started coaching. He helped turn a club sport into a varsity sport at ND. After graduating he took on a coaching job at Northwestern. And finally returned to the Philadelphia's beloved Schuylkill River to coach LaSalle University for a few years and for the past 8 or so years he has been coaching the St. Joe Hawks. He was named the Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year. The Dad Vail is a BIG day for my brother and a fun day for us! The girls love to go to the river, they act like they own the boat house. The team parents grill and there are all sorts of food and drinks. Alumni come to socialize on the dock and cheer on the team! Enjoy the pictures from our day! What a fun day! Without going into too much detail today's run was a memorial run for my brother's fiance's BIL, Marty! (are you with me?) He died suddenly last summer @ 41 years old, leaving a wife and four children, ages 1-10...heartbreaking. Incidentally, Marty went to high school with my brother, I went to college with Marty, and MBM knew Marty, as they worked in the same field. Marty knew everybody...Everybody! He coached his kids, was active in their school and church, did the "Dad Dance" at his girls dance recitals, was involved in both his high school and college alumni. Are you getting a clear picture of the kind of guy he was? Today, his wife said that Marty loved more than anything being with his family and friends. Today was all about family and friends...I don't know the final turn out...they ran out of t-shirts, 750 t-shirts were order! I ran into friends from high school, college, my hometown and I spent the day with all the people I love most! Along with the 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk the were all sorts of food, drinks, games for the kids, face painting, and an Irish band! It was a GREAT day! Are kicking butts and taking names! Lilli will be two next month and Alec is 5 months old, they arrived here on Wednesday morning and I am exhausted! EXHAUSTED!!!! My SIL and BIL needed some last minute childcare and MBM and I were happy to help out. But, for the love of GOD, I was thrown back to diapers, bottles, naps, strollers, sippy cups, bibs, pacifiers, and all sorts of other equipment and it has knocked me on my A$$! Not to mention the 5:15AM wake up call. Now don't get me wrong they are angels...sweetest little babies ever, I just don't remember how hard it was having little littles around. Yesterday, I didn't shower and I forgot to eat lunch, I tucked myself into bed before my own children were in bed. Right now, Lilli is sleeping and Alec is chilling on MBM's lap, he is on a conference call. They will be leaving this afternoon. It should take me a good hour to gather up their belongings and breakdown all the equipment. I should also mention that my girls have been a HUGE help...especially Lulu since she is here most of the day (1/2 Kindergarten) but, having the babies here, I realized quite suddenly, she is not a baby anymore...BOOHOO! In othr news... I am way behind on sewing and buried under a big monogramming project...I am running my first ever 5K on Sunday, keep your fingers crossed, I am ok with being last, I just want to finish in a reasonable time)...this time next week I will most likely have my toes in sand!!!!!! Last weekend MBM went on a bike ride with our neighbor, on those country roads, when he returned he told me he saw a couple dragging a desk to the curb. Since, the curb is my favorite place to shop I jumped in my car to have a look...It was of course love at first sight! Solid wood, eight drawers, in really good shape, but needs a little bit of love. And it had a FREE signed to boot! I needed some muscle to get it in the car, but, was afraid to leave this beauty, as someone else might spot her. So, I did what any good trash picker would do...first, I removed the FREE signs, then, I took all the drawers out and put them in the car. Who would want a desk without the drawers? Scooted home, picked up MBM and hauled this baby home! After we unloaded, MBM and I stood back proud of our find, ok, his find...he says, "Where are you going to put it?" To which, I said, "I have no idea, I just wanted it!" Look at the detail... Well, I know now, I am going to use it in my dressing room. When, I get around to polishing her up and making her pretty, I'll share!

Weekend

There is nothing like hosting a party to get your butt in gear...that's what I was doing all last week. Cleaning, sewing, touching up paint, organizing, baking, shopping, cooking, polishing....Yesterday, I hosted a bridal shower for my SIL "to be", it was a lovely party on a not so lovely day, cold and rainy! I didn't take one picture all day or even before the guest arrived, you know, when you house is just so, everything in it's place, fresh flowers in every room, all your china and crystal sparkling....ahhhh. Less than 24 hours later in it back to it normal state of disorder! Saturday...Lacrosse game in the pouring rain. The girls LOVED it! Me not so much, Lulu not at all! Emma...on the side lines! Caroline passing! This week, I am chaining myself to my sewing machine. I am working on several diffierent projects for 3 different clients!

Beautiful Day

It is just beautiful here in Pennsylvania today...MBM could not join me a the track for a run this morning(and he won't let me go alone), so, I decided to take my show on the road. We live in a growing rural community...narrow winding country roads and developments. A beautiful place to run. But with everything there are Pros and Cons... PRO... ...beautiful country side views along those country roads ...beautiful homes and gorgeous landscaping ...fresh country air ...feeling of safety ...neighbors, wave as you go by makes you feel good CON... ...road kill accompanied by voltures snacking (BTW they don't move when they see you coming) ...landscapers, between the mowing and staring, UGH! ...barn smells ...narrowly being run down by a mini van on the road and worse...knowing who it was! ...trash day, you learn a lot about your neighbors by what is in there recycling. I am not judging, just an observation! Have a great weekend!

Well, I did it! I registered for my first EVER 5K. This is a HUGE deal for me...I always talk about it, but have never actually registered. May 17th is the big day...MBM is helping me prepare and has me on a training schedule...so far so good. In other news, I have added two more clients! I picked up the fabric today for one and will be starting her projects...draperies for dining room, curtains for a sunroom/office, and curtains for her boys' bathroom. 12 weeks

It took 12 weeks but, I FINALLY lost 10 lbs! I stayed the same weight for 4 weeks in a row. Clearly, I was not working super hard at following the program, but, I was relieved that I maintained and did not gain anything back...but, staying at 9lbs. for that long was a killer! According to Weight Watchers, I am in a healthy weight range for my height. WOOHOO! I would like to loose another 10...the eating is under control. It does take some planning and preparation...some where along the way, I realized I was worth the planning and prep. I deserved to take the time to make myself a salad for lunch, sit and enjoy it Instead of just slapping some peanut butter and jelly on bread on the fly. To get those other 10 off, I really need to kick things up a notch...like getting to the gym and now that the weather is getting nicer get out and run. I constructed a reward system when I started back in January for every 5 lbs lost ...10 lbs = beautiful bunch of flowers from my favorite flower shop. Which I will pick up on Monday, because I am headed to the shore tonight for the weekend...you guessed it...to work on the beach house. MBM will bring the girls tomorrow after school...so, it will be my pup and I tonight and most of tomorrow painting and scrubbing...

Lacrosse season is in full swing...I just wish it would warm up already! The girls have had several games and participated in the annual UD Women's' Lacrosse Youth Day. Spring Break

The girls are on Spring Break this week. I am looking forward to having a relaxing week split between home and the shore. Here is how it has gone so far... Friday...Lulu had a playdate here for the afternoon...pick up Caroline at school, b/c we were lucky enough to win (or lose) the chance to care for the class hermit crabs after break...drive Caroline to friends...pick up Emma and Caroline from friends houses at 9:00PM Saturday...early lacrosse game...lots of chores around the house. Sunday...all day lacrosse event at the University of Delaware. Lots of fun, but a very long day...Caroline and Emma have friends sleep over, poor planning on my part, they were soooo tired and grumpy. Monday...Friends leave around lunch...pouring rain and trapped in the house for the day...girls have lacrosse this evening (weather permitting)...I have client appointment and a million errands to run. Tuesday...plans with friends after lunch. Wednesday...lacrosse game in Maryland and then headed to the shore. Thursday...Friday...Saturday...working on the beach house. When, I am not occupied there will be cleaning laundry, packing, and lots and lots of sewing.... I live such a glamourous life!

At 7:56PM, I will retreat to my bedroom with a bottle of wine to watch the series finale of ER. I have been a faithful view since it aired in 1994. I am so happy with how this last season has progressed...with the old cast returning, Oh, how I love Carter! And happy endings...Neela going to be with Ray...perfect! So I wonder what tonight will bring? Will you be tuning in? My husband claims I am the only one still watching...but, I know he is wrong. On Friday morning, my friend Mel and I will discuss in length the previous nights episode as we do most Fridays. What are we going to talk about next week?

Before Remove fabric from shade. Being careful to not rip the fabric too much and not bend the shade frame. Use the removed fabric as a pattern, I cut generously to allow for error. Pin to fit fabric to form. Lightly mark the seams with a pencil. Sew seams along the pencil markings. Slip the fabric over the wire frame, position for gluing. Pull gently(and evenly)hot glue all the way around the top, repeat on the bottom Add matching ribbon around the bottom for a finished look. Viola! In all its shining glory! Note: I chose not to line this shade, but it could be done quite easily.

I found myself getting a bit off track this week with the Living Room. I want to be able to dedicate the time to making the drapery and accomplish it in a few days...this week that wasn't going to happen. So, I took on a smaller project...the "butler pantry" (that is what the builder called it, but we decided against the cabinetry because I had envisioned a big old piece in that spot)...anyway, it is a nook between the great room and dining room that sits at the top of the basement stairs. Here is it before...set up for a coffee. I was never happy with those shelves there, they were relocated to MBM's office. After patching the holes and touching up the paint... The window was a junk shop find, I actually bought two (one is going to the shore) Before: After removing all the glass, cleaning, and putting a picture hanger on the back. The lamps have been all over the house...most recently in the living room. I wasn't crazy about the shades, they are navy and shiny, had a silly white scarf ties around them and when lit the shade looked purple. YIKES!!! I did love the height, paint finish and price. So, I revamped the shades. It was so much easier than I thought! Stay tuned for the more on the lampshade re do tomorrow!

Well MBM's office is finished....for now. I still need to frame the pipes, it looks like I will need to do more shopping around to find a shadow box deep enough. I am very happy with the way the project turned out. So, I move on the the Living Room. Before: So far the rugs have been ripped out and replaced with dark hardwood, and the walls have been painted a deep pink, and I have changed out some furniture...still lots to do! New Adventures

When I decided to leave my job back in January, my husband, mother, and a bunch of friends encouraged me to try it on my own. So I am. A little back story... ...about six years ago, my friends encouraged me to do this, but, I was very reluctant. I am always eager to help pick pant color, furniture fabric, room lay out and I had made window treatments for a handful of friends/neighbors, I wanted to, but really didn't know where to start. Then I made a handbag...and well, that took off and kept me busy for five years. So, last year when I decided to hang up the handbag gig and was planning to go to design school, when the job opportunity practically fell in my lap. In my time, as an In-Home Consultant...I learned a tremendous amount and gained the confidence to take my show on the road! It has been one full week since my "retirement" and so far so good! One of my favorite things is having lunch with Lulu everyday. I really missed our lunch time conversations. Lunch time talk... ICE CREAM! Favorites, toppings, cones, sundaes, everything ice cream. Then we moved on to Lulu quizzing me on "mad style"...I failed. After we finished our lunch we decide to make blueberry muffins to warm us up!

Snow Day!

Last night the girls were banking on a snow day today, negotiating a later bedtime, making plans for a "snow day breakfast" and sledding. And I was secretly wishing for a snow day, too. If you have been following me for any length of time you know that I am not a fan of snow or cold. But, I haven't had a snow day with the girls this year. I was looking forward to the ritual of a snow day. Well, they got their wish...SNOW and lots of it. It started around 8:00PM and it is still going strong at 10:30AM. Our house rule is that you can't go out in the snow until it stops falling, not always enforced, but,today it will be, it is FREEZING. Our ritual....french toast and bacon for breakfast, stay in our pajamas, movies, popcorn, hot cocoa, games...and I am going to sew a bit too! What do you do on a snow day?

Literally! I made the old footlocker roll. The revamp, my original plan was to do some sort of metal paint finish, but once I dragged it out of the storage room and got a good look at it, I liked it as is! So, the revamp, ended up being a good cleaning and adding swivel casters. The trunk is in there...down that narrow path in the storage room. Aah Ha! Unload the years of books and papers. Gather supplies and tools. Mark where to drill. Drill holes. Charge the drill battery...it died with 1 screw left! Story of my life. Get Lulu off the bus, make lunch, do two loads of laundry...charged! Tighten nuts. Polished and ready to roll. The completed trunk in it new home. Now what else can I put wheels on...how about that wicker trunk...for the beach house! I dread to find out what is living inside... Have a great weekend...we are headed to the shore to work on the beach house!

As promised...pictures, not so great pictures, please pardon the mess on the desk! Cozy reading corner...and also the place I sit every morning with my coffee to chat with MBM. Stats on the draperies...non-functioning flat panel drapery...100% linen (not too bad to work with), cotton print accent fabric, fully lined in poly/cotton ivory lining. Applied 4" banding, top stitched on to the linen. Hand sewn rings... Blind hems...no stitching visible from the face of the drapery. And today's project the footlocker...that is if I can manage to get it out the storage room in the basement!

Weight Watchers

Down 7 lbs. total. The last two weeks combined, I only lost 1 lb. I know why...over Valentine's Weekend at the shore there was wine and guacamole, cosmopolitans and guacamole, beer and guacamole...you get the idea! I am back on full force and have learned my lesson NO MORE GUACAMOLE in large quantities anyway! And I guess it would be better choose wine, beer, OR a cosmo. I am also going to invest in a scale that I don't have to squint to see...digital most likely, now I won't be guesstimating where the arrow is pointing! The draperies are installed in MBM's office and I have to say I am quite pleased with the way they turned out. Pictures tomorrow!

Unemployment

Well, today is my first day returning to my former life of a stay-at-home-mom...so far so good. I jumped right back in with both feet. Started the day with an early morning trip to the orthodontist with Emma, she is now sporting an expander. Braces to follow in a month. Went food shopping. Lulu is entertaining her classmate, they just finished the "playdate" lunch of grilled cheese, sliced apples, and hot chocolate. And are already eyeing up the ooey, gooey, peanut buttery, chocoatechipy deliciousness sitting on the counter. There has been laundry washed and folded. Appointments scheduled. And LOTS AND LOTS of list making! Soon I am going to fire up the vacuum. I'd say I am off to a good start. MBM's office drapery is finished and ready to be installed...he has been on conference calls ALL morning, so, I wait, with my drill in hand. In the mean time I made him a pillow. I used the fabric from the draperies...added a flat welt around the pillow and a monogram and VIOLA! Almost finished his office!

Lay-A-Way

I picked up this little lovely last week. One of my favorite local antique shops offers lay-a-way...can you believe it?...lay-a-way. The glass knobs are HUGE... Anyway, a few weeks ago, I had some to to kill before heading to an appointment and thought I would stop in. I was getting ready to buy some glass knobs when the owner told me they just got a piece in with the best glass knobs, did I want to take a look? Of course, I wanted to take a look, and I fell in love immediately. I was thinking about all the places I could use it in my house or the beach house...then I hit the breaks...how much? Well, not much at all, but, more than I wanted to spend just after Christmas. She said, "Put it on lay-a-way!" it was like music to my ears...so for the past few weeks I would swing by and pay down my little piece. It was worth the wait...don't you think? The whole knob is actually screwed in to the drawer front...never saw that before. And what a genius...lay-a-way! Smart business women...LOVE IT! Dove Tail...gotta love it. It is currently taking up residence in the living room (which, btw is also on THE LIST) but, who knows where it will end up!

I have been compiling a list(in my head)of things/projects I would like to complete before the end of the school year. And well it just seems to get longer and longer. So I have decided to take it one room at a time kind of thing. Since just about every room in our house has some sort of unfinished project. My rule is not to move to another room until this one is finished! That is hard for me! FOCUS, HEATHER, FOCUS! The first room...MBM's office. Before the holidays we had the floors refinished, I painted the office red (his Alma Mater color), added a ceiling fan, we rearranged and edited the furniture, hung some pictures, and then hit the breaks. The window treatments are near completion. This is the current state of his office...needs some love, no? And yes, that is our Vice-President wearing a triathlon medal in MBM's office... a Christmas gift for MBM from my uncle. Not sure if he will be relocated. What's left on THE LIST... 1. hang shelves, they are currently hanging in the butler pantry 2. frame old pipes, need to buy frames 3. do something fun with his old foot locker from college, maybe paint and definitely casters. 4. make pillows for leather chair 5. add a floor lamp, currently living on our master...so that is a matter of unplugging, carrying down stairs, and plugging in

Weight Watchers

Another 2 lbs...total of six. Down one pant size...I can live with that! I was a bit sceptical about WW Online, there is just something about those weekly meetings that work for me. But, so far so good! The whole program has been fairly easy, I am not hungry at all and having to log everything you put in your mouth really helps with the mindless snacking. I have been drinking an unreasonable amount of tea..mainly green tea (decaf, of course) and at night chamomile. One other great thing about Online vs. weekly meetings...they don't let you strip down buck naked to weigh in! Oh, the perks! Today, I will be working on my "LIST" of things I wanted to do but never got to...I'll share what I have tomorrow!

Well, yesterday, I resigned from my job. It was bitter sweet, really, because I love my job. Working with clients in their home, being surrounded by such gorgeous fabrics and furniture. But, what it comes down to it dollars and cents...and well, in this economy, it just wasn't working out like I had anticipated. There are lots of things I will miss, like getting dressed up everyday, getting to see the insides of so many different homes, the group of people I work with, the fabric discount...I could go on and on! But, this wasn't a quick decision. It took a few weeks to finally make a decision and start making plans. So, there is a lot to look forward to as well. We have decided to not rent our beach house this year. Instead we are packing up the week after school lets out(and lacrosse camp is over) and heading to the shore for the whole summer! Of course, that means a lot of work needs to be done to make it livable for us...lots of painting, sewing, and fun ahead! So, I am back to my "life with lulu and her sisters" which I missed terrible. When I told them about leaving my job they cheered...that really sealed the deal for me!

Naval Academy Lacrosse Clinic

Saturday we headed down to Annapolis for the girls to participate in a lacrosse clinic sponsored by the Navy Women's Lacrosse team. Saturday we bummed around downtown Annapolis, ate lunch, toured the Naval Academy campus, took a nap, swam in the hotel pool, went out to dinner (hibachi, lots of fun), went out for ice cream, and finally went to bed. All of us in one hotel room...luckily we are not big people! Sunday was the clinic...outside....BRRRRR! The temperature was somewhere in the 30's, thank goodness the sun was warm and bright! The girls had a great time! And we are definitely in for next year, the team was great with the girls and such positive role models! Caroline and a partner playing "Sister, Sister"... This is what I can home to today...kids, including my own, all over our front lawn sledding. They had a blast. After some hot chocolate and a warm bath they will sleep soundly tonight. Tomorrow my mom and are going fabric shopping. She has been wanting to change her great room at the shore for a while. We did a kitchen remodel last year and now she needs new window treatments and throw pillows to complete room. And for some reason, I am having trouble choosing stuff for her at work. So we decided to venture out together. Speaking of work...we are starting to pick up a little bit. I am hoping with the inauguration people will feel more confident spending money...fingers crossed! Totally inspired by other bloggers, I have started yet another weight loss crusade. I have had success with Weight Watchers in the past, so I am going to give it another shot. This time online, as my schedule just not permit me to get to weekly meetings. So far so good, the site is really easy to navigate and offers tons of tools for success. The hardest part...I only have 22 Points a day! Any and all pointers welcome! Mondays are going to be my Weigh-In Day...today was my first weigh in and I am down 2lbs. I am nervous about the accuracy of our scale...again, keeping my fingers crossed. One more thing to keep my fingers crossed about...we are headed to Annapolis to the Naval Academy this weekend for a lacrosse clinic. When we registered the girls we assumed it would be inside, you know because it is January and all, well it it OUTSIDE. I am hoping for a major shift in the weather. Is 65 degrees and sunny asking too much?

Well, I am back from Denver and guess what? It is colder here...go figure! Our meetings were good and it was a great opportunity to network with other designers from all over the country. I have been feeling a bit discouraged at work because, well let's face it, nobody is interested in redecorating in this economic climate. Who can blame them. After the meetings I feel rejuvenated and ready to search for some business! Our weekend plans include...birthday parties, work, Sunday dinner at my In-Laws and the return of Friday Night Lights....WOO HOO! Have a great weekend!

My baby girl celebrated her tenth birthday while we were at the shore last week. TEN! Huge, such a mile stone. She chose to travel 25 minutes north to Atlantic City to have her birthday dinner at the Rainforest Cafe. My parents joined us for dinner and then we returned home for birthday cake, ice cream, and gifts. She was on top of the world. This jump to double digits has brought a lot of change...lots of looking in the mirror and grooming. She even received a Christmas gift from "A BOY" in her class. That is how the card was signed from "A Boy"...too, cute. MBM doesn't agree! TEN...I can't believe it!

We have been at the shore for the past few days working on the beach house, celebrating Caroline's birthday, and just general relaxing. Our plans to bring in the New Year...late afternoon showing of Marley and Me followed by dinner, left over birthday cake, wine, and a stack of magazines in my pajamas, of course! Chances of any of us seeing the ball drop? Slim to none! Wishing you all a safe, happy, and healthy 2009!

...of hosting 51 people for Christmas is not as bad as you would think. But, today I am exhausted. After having the girls, MBM and I decided that we would host Christmas, totally selfish on our part because we want to stay home on Christmas. But, we do extend the invitation to our family to invite in-laws, friends, etc. So this was our 8th Christmas and we had quite a crew! The youngest, our nephew Alec (4 weeks old) and the oldest Aunt Phyl (99 years old!) So what does it take to feed 51 people... ...26 pounds of pork ...30 pounds of potatoes ...10 pounds of carrots ...8 pounds of green beans ...a ginormous antipasto salad ...lots and lots and lots of wine! We did ask our guest to pitch in with hors d'ouvers and desserts, which is a HUGE help! We also managed to seat all 39 adults at the same time, thanks to 20 folding chairs, a huge piece of plywood over the pool table. I really wanted to take some pictures, but as you might imagine, I was busy! So today, we were supposed to travel a bit to celebrate with my Dad's family, but there is some sort of virus running through their house so the festivities are postponed. And I was so glad to stay in my pajamas, play Monopoly for 3 hours (which by the way is still being played, 6 hrs later)and eat leftovers! Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! Oh, and today is our wedding anniversary.....11 years!

Alec was the secret that I was ready to BURST out with. He arrived on November 26 and is PERFECT! My sister-in-law flew out to Southern California on Monday and was in the delivery room with the birth mom. My BIL arrived yesterday. Now they are chilling with their baby boy in a Marriott until they are cleared to bring that baby boy home to meet his big sister and the rest of our crazy family!!!!

Secret Service

So, today at work the most fun thing happened! I have to work an occasional Saturday on the sales floor, it's fun and I don't mind it because it gives me the opportunity to meet more perspective clients. Anyway, this morning, the store had a few people in and I was working at the front desk on the computer, this gentleman came in, I said good morning, he walked through the whole store (we get a lot of husbands looking for their wives), I asked if I could help him, he smiled and walked out. A few second later he was back following these two women around the store, looking like a bored husband. Again, I asked if he was finding everything ok, yada, yada, yada...he wasn't very friendly. Then, I noticed the ear piece and thought to myself what does this guy think he's in the Secret Service? I went about my business, helping the two ladies find fabric to reupholster two sofas and pillows...then helping a few other shoppers...I looked outside and saw two identical Suburbans parked out front each with several men inside. Then, I finally figured it out...This was the reupholstry lady! So, the unfriendly guy, WAS in the Secret Service! She couldn't have been more gracious. She asked my name and then said, "I'm Jill." we shook hands...I helped her carry a bolt out to one of the Suburbans, surrounded by Secret Service. I hope she comes back soon! So fun! It totally made my day!

Day Off

Tuesdays are my official day off, from work, not life! I would like to have a restful day, maybe flutter around the house, read, make a nice dinner for the family. This is what my day was really like... 6:30 up with the girls 7:55 bus, Emma stayed home, orthodontist appt and doctor appt. 8:45 pick up Caroline for the orthodontist, yes, she was at school for 45 minutes, she didn't want to miss anything (NERD) 10:15 return Caroline to school 10:30 paint the trim on one window in the living room 11:15 pick up Lulu at the bus, head to Walmart, lunch in the car of course (prepared by Emma) see friend at Walmart, shop 12:30 Emma's doctor appointment, she has allergies, duh?, I've been telling them that! 1:15 Drag Emma and Lulu food shopping 2:30 Return home. Emma and Lulu offer to unload the car, so sweet! I head to my office to check email/blogs 2:45 Lulu tells me she accidentally dropped the milk and there is a puddle, clean up what the dog missed, head back to my office 3:00 Emma comes to tell me the dog "Kinda, got the meat." 3:20 Still sitting at my computer afraid to go up stairs! Wish me luck!

Full Plate

Burning the candle at both ends, full plate, crazy busy...whatever! I have just been running around like a nut...not knowing which way to go...I think things are going to slow down soon. I hope. Here is the low down... Girls. Same old...homework, sports, parties, and playdates! MBM. Busy with work and travel...he has been wearing lots of hats lately, picking up my slack. Work. I have been VERY busy, lots of appointments, nobody buying:( House. Totally torn apart, literally. We ripped out rugs in 3 rooms and the second floor hallway. I am painting and making new drapery for the Living, Dining, and MBM's office. There will also be some furniture refinishing. Extended family. Weddings, engagements, and I have a BIG FAT SECRET, that I cannot share for fear of jinxing it! Friends. I have not been a very good one of these lately...wonder if I have any friends left! Trying to get my act together...be back soon! h.

My cousin Danielle got married over the weekend...thought I would share some pictures... My youngest cousin, Kerry, she is a wild child! Looks can be so deceiving! Lauren, one of the sweetest girls ever! Isn't she beautiful? The Mr. and Mrs. Danielle and my girls, before they were whisked away to a babysitter. The tables were set beautifully. And the center pieces were out of this world the pictures do not do them justice. The wild child and the grooms brother,Colin, who was a surprise to everyone. The brothers kept tight lips. Colin entered the church with the Groom, just as the bridesmaids were about to process in...let's just say there wasn't a dry eye in the house. I thought their mother was going to come undone. Danielle and Brian actually moved their wedding up one whole year, so Colin would be present, but he was shipped out earlier than expected. It was a great surprise! Candy Apple favors...adorable and the the pumpkin place cards. It was a fun night and I wish them all the happiness in the world. They are off to a great start for being so young, they bought a real fixer up about 6 months ago and spend every second working on it...you may remember this? Did I mention the were next door neighbors growing up and until just a few days ago! It must have been tricky the day of the wedding, sneaking in and out of the houses without seeing each other!

Day TWO an THREE

Day TWO lead us all through the city and past all the sights, Day THREE we headed toward the Main Line, through very fimiliar territory, to our finish at Villanova University... Elfred's Ally, the oldest residential street in our nation! Kelly Drive, lots of sculling on the river that day! The "other side" of the famous Boat House Row. Love Park Pit stop on South Street Fabric Row...sooo hard not to stop! Fabric Shop owner and survivor! Familiar faces in Rosemont Mile 55...we stopped in for a little toast! The finish line...our team crossed together! Saluting the Survivors that walked The flag signals the last walker was in!!!! Some more "support" along the way! If the 3 Day makes it's way to your city...think about lacing up those sneakers or at least cheering for th walkers along the way. Our team raised over $30,000 the Philadelpia event rasied over 8.1 million...I am so grateful for this weekend and to be a part of something BIG!!!

Our team... The Opening Ceremonies and the walk begins. These flags are pasted from walker to walker for all 60 miles! Supporters around every corner... The streets of Chestnut Hill lined with supporters. Several residential streets along the way were all decked out with signs, pink streamers and balloons! Arriving at camp with the Philadelphia skyline as a back drop. Yes, that is me in the green, out of uniform! Home Sweet Home...at least the tent was pink. Happy Hour...wine and snacks! Over 3000 campers!

Crisis

We are in crisis mode...our coffee pot is not working. It makes the right noise, fills the house with it's rich aroma, even beeps when it is finished. But, does not produce any coffee. This is not good! I NEED coffee in the morning. And I have a big day planned today. Lots of errands, one which includes going to pick up my new camera. First stop, Starbucks. Second stop, Bed, Bath, and Beyond for a new coffee pot!

My camera is officially gone. Last Wednesday, I left my camera on the plane. It was right next to my bag under the seat in front of me and I just forgot to pick it up. I realized my mistake as I was standing in the lobby of the Ritz-Carlton in awe over an arrangement of roses, when I thought I should take a picture. Immediately, I called my mother-in-law, who works for the airline we flew, to ask what I should do to recover my camera. After giving her ALL the information I could, she was off and running. My MIL called at least 25 people in the Philadelphia airport as well as Miami, from baggage to lost and found, she even was able to relay a message to the flight crew some 30,000 miles up to check the plane, as the plane basically touched down and turned around back to Philadelphia. I filled out all sorts of paper work at both Philadelphia and Miami, have been on the phone with several people in the "warehouse" in Charlotte. Nothing, Nada, Zilch, Zip, Nil! Nobody has seen my camera... So, it leads me to believe someone found it and decided to keep it for themselves. Unbelievable!

We returned from our little vacation on Saturday evening, headed right to the shore for dinner with my parents, brother and his fiance, and of course the girls. Our trip was great...MBM's company really goes all out. There were cocktails, dinners, treats/gifts left in our room every night, spa treatments, lounging by the pool....aaaahhhh! I had grand plans of taking pictures of EVERYTHING, so you could enjoy the trip along with me. I wanted to show you my new dress...that I am in LOVE with for a lot of reasons, and I can't seem to find it online anywhere. BUT, I left my camera on the plane! That's a whole other post! I will leave you with this....my new favorite pants... J. Crew, Watson Pant...the yellow where marked down to $14 and change, I also bought them in black and the darker khaki.

Moving Day

Today we moved my Granny from one Assisted Living Facility to another. This is her third move in just over four years. She spent 45 years in the same house but, jumps from one assisted living to the next. The reason she keeps leaving...1. The food goes down hill. 2. She follows her friends. It cracks me up one leaves and they all follow. While she was holding court in the gorgeous lobby, we were unpacking EVERYTHING she has ever owned. Including 8 boxes of band aids, rollers (electric and Velcro, did I mention she wears a wig?), a Jagermeister t-shirt and hat, the mini wedding album and video to my brothers very short marriage (he has been divorced for 12 years), volumes of People magazines, Christmas cards from years past, and prescriptions dating back to 1994. How some of these things have made all three moves is beyond me. We finished off the day with dinner in the restaurant at 3:00 in the afternoon. She was preening surrounded by my girls in her new home. So it was worth all the clutter. Plus, my cousin and I were laughed all day!

Our night at "the table"...which is actually placed smack in the center of the market. It was seven courses of heaven, delicious wine and good friends. A halfway decent picture of MBM and me...there aren't many of those around! Not too much else to report. Girls are good, MBM is good, work is good. I am looking forward to sharing some before and after pics of projects I have been working on at work...lots of fun stuff!

I was so glad she introduced herself to me...let me tell you up close and personal, Biscuits is BEAUTIFUL...gorgeous skin, impeccable make up and hair and she is soooo tall. Of course, anyone over 5'3" I think is statuesque. Wish we had a chance to sit and chat a bit longer...next time you are passing through our little town let me know!

Surprise!!!!!!

Yesterday, I went to my cousin's bridal shower. It was a miserable day here...rained...poured...ALL DAY LONG. The festivities were supposed to be held out side at her aunt's home and of course the weather didn't cooperate, so everything was moved inside. I don't know how many people were there but it seemed like a million or so. That's neither here or there.... Anyway, the shower was a surprise. Why do people insist on having surprise showers? The bride and her fiance are renovating their house. Basically, spending every spare second trying to have it ready by there wedding next month. I don't know what the plan was to get her to the shower was but, she decided it was too miserable out and she was going to work on her house. Finally, her fiance told her about the shower. She comes over and is a mess...A MESS! Wearing huge sweats and a tee covered in paint and dirt, her hair was piled on top of her head in a Medusa like fashion, make up from the night before smudged on her face. She was mortified. Then she had to greet all her guest and open presents looking like a fool. How embarrassing for her? I don't mean to be harsh...but, why do people think bridal/baby showers need to be surprises? You know you are going to have one. What are your thoughts...to surprise or not?
