So Proud!

Below is the press release on MBM's race. He has dedicated so much time to this and really what is more precious than time? February 21, 2008 Sea Isle City adds triathlon to calendar of events Sea Isle City - A new event, a triathlon dubbed Tri For Our Veterans, is taking place in Sea Isle City on Saturday, May 24, 2008. The three-part race will begin at 7:30 A.M. and will consist of a 400-meter ocean swim, a 12.3 mile (4.1 mile loop) bicycle race and a 3.1 mile beach run. The event, which is expected to draw hundreds of athletes from around the region, will serve as a fundraiser for the injured marine Semper Fi Fund and Sea Isle City VFW Post 1963. Additionally, organizers hope that the race will shine a spotlight on the needs of injured veterans and those serving in the United States Military. According to Race Director Matt McCulley, the triathlon will be a positive way to kick off the summer season and celebrate Memorial Day Weekend. "We want to keep the word 'memorial' in Memorial Day," said McCulley. "Our real focus is on our returning soldiers, injured marines and the work Semper Fi Fund has done." Established in 2004, Semper Fi Fund provides financial assistance and quality of life solutions to injured marines, their families and other service members injured in direct support of marine units. The fund also supports Team Semper Fi, which is made up of injured marines and sailors who compete in athletic events that raise funds and awareness for wounded veterans. Team Semper Fi provides wounded team members with coaches, specialized sporting equipment, entry fees and travel expenses. McCulley, who is not a military veteran, was inspired to organize Tri For Our Veterans during a visit to the Jersey shore in 2007. It was then that he decided to combine his love for Sea Isle City, his passion for endurance racing, and his tremendous respect for America's veterans - especially those who have been injured while serving their country. "We have to put our best foot forward and give as much support as we can to our military," said McCulley. "The city of Sea Isle City and VFW Post 1963 have been supporting Tri For Our Veterans since day one, so I knew that Sea Isle was the right place for this event." For information concerning the Semper Fi Fund, visit www.semperfifund.org . Those wishing to compete in the triathlon can register at click here. Another, Snow Day!

The girls have been stuck inside because it has been snowing, sleeting, and raining all day! They have been sooooo good, no bickering and actually all playing together! KNOCK ON WOOD!

I decided now would be a good time to work on Emma's curtains. Here are the fabrics I bought...

I have 6 yards of each...there are two windows in her room...I don't know what I am going to do yet...any suggestions?

This is the fabric that inspired the whole room...I love the colors, the monkeys, the flowers, the fish, the birds!

Happy Weekend!

Polar Bear Plunge

This past weekend MBM and I headed to the Shore, sans the girls...they were spending the weekend with my in-laws. Every Valentine's weekend our beach town host a Polar Bear Plunge. It is quite a festive event, costumes, an Ice Queen, and for a mere $25, to benifit a local charity, you can run into the freezing cold Atlantic.
We were spectators...here are some pictures from the day...the pics of the plungers is hard to see...Sorry!

Below, is a picture of MBM trying to recruit a racer for this, share this with the athletes in your life. MBM is working so hard on this race, his first as a race director, he feels so connected to the cause!

We capped off the day with a party at our friends house. Lots of food, drinks, and friendship!

Snow Day

The girls had a snow day today. It is just ice so, no sledding. They have already watched a movie had lunch, played the Wii, made brownies...now they are bored! (It makes me crazy when they say that, but that is a whole other post!)

So, this is what they decided to do...put every hat and scarf in the house on Lulu!

I picked up 2 outfits for each of my girls, an outfit, bathing suit, and surf shirt for my nephew, and a dress and hat for my niece all for $130! If I had time I would have gone back for more!

I got this t-shirt in navy....$3.90

To go with this skirt for $10.50....THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

Other weekend plans...

Tonight, I have a "gig", the table cloth is in the dryer again...I made sure it is alone! Tomorrow, Emma makes her First Reconcilitaion...confessing all her sins for the past seven years! Sunday, I am going to finish painting Emma's room!

Have a great weekend!

Another, Day in the Life of Me!

So, last night I had a "gig"...it was a JL Ladies Night Out at a bowling alley. I, of course, was running a few minutes behind schedule trying to get out of the house, when I remembered about the table cloth! As I was packing up the car, I threw the table cloth in the dryer to fluff it a bit. I arrive and am setting up shop when one of the coordinators comes over to help with my table cloth. As I gently throw it on the table a pair of my husbands blue striped boxer briefs comes flying out! Static cling is a bitch!

Home Again!

Well, we are back from our trip and right back in to the swing of things. MBM is back in the office and I am in my studio preparing for a "gig" tonight.

We had a great time and it was so nice to be in the warm sun for a few days. I didn't take many pictures. We were with a group of 40 from MBM's company and there were a lot of cameras...I felt like I didn't need to add to the craziness.

I did take this picture from my lounge chair on the island.

The highlight of the trip was a day in Key West. MBM and I rented beach cruisers and spent the day cruising around. We covered just about every inch of the island. I took a bizillion pictures of houses...to file away for when it is time for the wrecking ball for our beach house.

And our favorite part was visiting Ernet Hemingway's home.

Okay, back to work!
