Fashion Police

The crime...outfit repeating! The arresting officer, Emma's, seven year old classmate. "You wore that the last time you where here!" Now in my defense, I wear jeans or J. Crew Favorite Fit pants with a long sleeve t-shirt or sweater... boots, clogs or loafers...denim jacket or vest....everyday. I have Favorite Fits in every color ever made. Same goes with the t-shirts and cable knit crew neck sweaters. I have 4 or 5 denim/corduroy jackets and 4 or 5 vests. I jazz it up with accessories, belts, bag, and jewelry. My husband calls it my uniform. It is boring, I know! But, it is easy, and most of my days are spent shuttling the girls, volunteering, running errands, and sewing. I like the fact that I am comfortable and somewhat put together looking. Of course, I was totally grown up in my response to her comment. I started to defend and explain myself to this little girl and she was just looking at me with a big "WHATEVER" look on her face. Then, I asked her, "What does your mom wear when she volunteers?" Her answer, "Sweats." That made me feel better, sort of!

oh, good lord. All this from a 7 year old! I like the sound of your uniform. I should adopt some kind of system like that myself.

Mom always said if you find something that fits and makes you look/feel good, buy it in every color.

OMG. The same thing happened to me - I was volunteering and a little boy said the same thing to me because I was wearing MY uniform - a black sweater and jeans or a jean skirt. My husband also calls my clothing my uniform. I feel as you do though - it's what I am comfortable in!

Too funny.

I had a similar incident last month when I was 37 weeks pregnant. My daughter's four year old friend looked up at me and said, 'You're fat'. I was appaled, how did he know this word and in this context? We never say comments of that nature in our house and I was not offended by being called fat, but the fact that he was around my daugther at day care and was making statements like this.

Here's my question...What is wrong with these kid's parents that they not teach their children to not be so rude to an adult. What ever happened to respecting your elders??? Your outfit sounds great and I'm just waiting for some kid to call me on my bedhead!
