Hired!

Well, it looks like I will be hanging up my "Stay At Home Mom" hat! An informal offer was made Monday and I am expecting the official offer to arrive today, outlining the position and all the good stuff that goes along with it! I am thrilled and a bit nervous, too. This is going to be HUGE on our family! When I spoke with the manager today she said, "I seem like a perfect fit for her team and the rest just fell into place." While, I am not a big advocate on blabbing your life story to anyone that will listen. (yes, I realize that is exactly what this blog is, but you get what I mean, right?)I do think when you open yourself up a bit good things happen. That is how this job came to be for me. I have been wanting to stop the custom parties for a while now and wanted to try something new. At book club, I said I was thinking about going to school or taking some interior design classes. The next thing I knew I was doing a resume and being interviewed for a perfect position! "It just fell into place", I couldn't agree more. I have another full day of sewing ahead to prepare for the Flower Market. Set up is tomorrow and the Market starts on Thursday...I have my space planned out in my head, sort of, I really need to see it, then it will come together easily. MBM is going to help me with the set up, which means he will be moving tables and carrying heavy stuff. I am considering bringing my smaller sewing machine to "work" on smaller items while at the Market. I think it would be fun to have a little "work station" in my booth and it will keep me busy during down times, which is a good thing and will keep me out of other booths. The weather forecast does not look promising... I am keeping sunny thoughts!

A Day in the Life of Me!

I went to the gym yesterday early to get into this class that is a real butt kicker. You know how that goes, the rushed morning trying to get the girls off to school, etc...

So, I get to the gym in plenty of time, the class fills up fast, I am chatting with some girls, I take off my vest to find this!

That is the peg from the mudroom peg rack in which my vest was hanging. I never even felt it. Waiting for the school bus...nothing...twenty-five minute drive to the gym...nothing...waiting for class to start...nothing!

This my friends, is a classic Heather!

I've got a secret!

My SIL and BIL are on their way to a hospital about an hour from there house to meet their new baby boy! But, SHHHHHH...nobody is supposed to know!!!!!! Their agency has prepared them that the birth mom is young and although she has started the adoption process, sometimes they change their minds. So, before you go to bed tonight, say a little prayer for a safe arrival for baby and birth mom. And maybe one more for the birth mom to follow her heart and be at peace with her choice! Keep you posted!

Jackson

We got very bad news last night. One of Emma's classmates died in an ATV accident on Sunday. He was seven. I was not going to post about it...too, sad. I told Emma this morning. I explained how his body was too hurt, doctor's couldn't fix him, so he went to be with God in Heaven. She was sad and she cried. I told her that it was ok to be sad and miss him, but, when we think about Jackson we should be happy and remember all the things we liked about him. She told me some stories about Jackson... How he would sing into his banana at lunch, he was good at sports, how he had trouble with math facts and he tried so hard. I don't know his parents and the funeral is going to be family only. I am going to send them a note. I told Emma if she wanted to send a note the Jackson's mommy and daddy I would help her. Emma agreed and started to work right away. She asked if the note would go to Heaven. I explained that the letter would be for Jackson's parents. Then, she asked if Jackson would see it when he came back. My heart sank. The she looked at me and said, "Is he ever going to come down?" She didn't understand. We have spent most of the morning talking about it. Question after question...about the accident, about Heaven, about his family, about him, did it hurt him to die. I answered as honestly as I could. I think she gets it. Better now, anyway. I am not sure now, should I have told her? I just didn't want her to hear it from another kid and be confused.

Kindness

The other day I got an email from a girl in New Hampshire. She had received a package from me (lulu belle custom handbags) with her address but, not her name. Anyhow, she took the time to find me, the return address label her only clue. Upon receiving the email, I did some quick research to figure out what went wrong. It seems that I put the wrong house number on the box, par for the course with me! I returned her email...thanking her for her kindness and honesty (I have had many packages go missing) over the last three years. I asked if she would just leave it for her letter carrier with a note to return to sender. And guess what she did...she found the rightful owner of the package and delivered it!!!! Wasn't that so nice? Taking the time to help a stranger!!!

What day is it?

All day long, I kept thinking it was Monday! Do you do that after a Holiday weekend? I spent the day as if it were Monday, cleaning up, laundry, organizing, etc... Most of my focus was in our bedroom. Lots of clothes, shoes, bags, books, stuff to put away. Striped the bed, washed all the bedding including the duvet cover. Dusted, vacuumed and I even washed the blinds and windows! Don't know what got into me. But, I am thinking about tackling another room tomorrow!
The big girls had tennis this afternoon. I had to step up from my assistant coach status to coach today, MBM assisted me, and Lulu was the ball girl!

On the way home, we spotted a hot air balloon. We watched it the whole ride home. I ran into the house, grabbed my camera and just got it before it floated behind the trees!

Good News!

My sister-in-law and her husband, Aunt B and Uncle B are going to be parents! They have been struggling with infertility for a few years. All the medication, shots, procedures, several IUIs, IVFs, and a lot of heart ache. They decided to adopt. Recently, were approved and contracted with an agency. Expecting a baby within two years. Well, last week, through a good friend, good fortune, and good timing they were contacted by a birth mom due in June. Completely unrelated to her agency. Aunt B and the birth mom have been talking on the phone and decided to meet yesterday. Of course, there are a lot of other details...but, Aunt B and Uncle B will be bring home a baby sometime in the next few weeks! MBM and I are so happy for them! We have not told our girls yet...but, I assure you they will be over the moon! Did I mention...the baby is a girl!!!

It has been CRAZY busy here the past few days!

We are preparing for Caroline's First communion on Mother's Day...Costco...food shopping...cleaning...cooking...baking...painting...
Tennis started this week for the big girls and I am the assistant coach!
I had a Handbag "gig" this afternoon!
All this on top of the homework and activities!
You know how it goes...not enough hours in the day!

Lulu and I did take a few minutes on the porch this afternoon to blow bubbles!

Count your blessings

We were in the middle of the morning craziness...brushing teeth, fixing hair, packing school bags, etc....when our phone rang at 7:15 Am. Assuming, with the pending snow/ice storm, it was one of my friends telling me school was cancelled. It was my neighbor, my retired neighbor without children. Her voice was deflated. The dog was barking, the girls were loud, all I heard was hospital. My heart sank, thinking one of "The Jet Set", that is what we call the retirees in the culdesac, was sick or worse. I asked her to repeat herself, "Fiona is in the hospital, it is Leukemia." Fiona turned five yesterday. I have hugged my girls a million times today and plan on a million more before bed...
